Rarimo Unveils RariMe, a Competitor to Worldcoin
Rarimo has introduced RariMe as a direct competitor to Worldcoin. RariMe is an innovative application that enables users to generate passport zero-knowledge proofs (ZKs) to verify their uniqueness without compromising their identity. This marks a significant advancement in identity verification technology in the digital age.
Unlike Worldcoin, which utilizes orbs to scan eyeballs for verification, Rarimo’s RariMe employs smartphone technology to scan passports and authenticate users. This approach ensures a high level of security and privacy, as personal data is not shared during the identity verification process.
Traditional identity frameworks often require a third party to approve credentials, but with the use of ZKs, RariMe eliminates the need for sharing sensitive information while establishing the authenticity of identities.
Kitty Horlick, Director of Rarimo provider Rarilabs, emphasized the potential of decentralized applications (Dapps) to leverage proof of citizenship or proof of age using ZKs, offering a new level of security and privacy in online interactions.
Rarimo gained recognition for its role in launching an anonymous, blockchain-powered referendum to assess the legitimacy of a political event earlier this year. This demonstrated the capabilities of their technology in ensuring privacy and security in sensitive processes.
The initial application of RariMe will involve utilizing passport ZKs to distribute programmable airdrops to citizens of specific countries, showcasing the versatility and potential impact of this innovative technology.
Lasha Antadze, co-founder of Rarimo provider Rarilabs, highlighted the importance of privacy in online spaces and emphasized that RariMe aims to empower users to maintain anonymity and engage in online activities securely in the Web3 environment.
