Partnership Between Anchorage Digital and Hashnote
U.S.-regulated cryptocurrency custody firm Anchorage Digital has teamed up with Hashnote, a digital asset manager created with the support of trading giants Cumberland and DRW, to offer clients attractive yields of up to 40%. The collaboration, known as Hashnote Harbor, was announced recently and provides returns through a range of derivatives strategies while keeping the assets securely held by Anchorage Digital.
Through Hashnote Harbor, clients can access customized structures to achieve specific yields or establish tailored hedges for their assets, all within the secure custody environment maintained by Anchorage Digital. This offering is particularly appealing to institutional investors seeking diversified digital asset yield-generating options with minimized credit, custodial, or protocol risks.
Anchorage co-founder Nathan McCauley highlighted the benefits of bridging traditional finance with the crypto ecosystem, stating that it combines the decentralization ethos with broader asset adoption. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the best practices developed in traditional capital markets over decades to ensure a robust and secure environment for digital asset transactions.
Both Anchorage Digital and Hashnote boast strong regulatory profiles in the United States. Anchorage, equipped with a federal bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), operates as a crypto bank, while Hashnote is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a Commodity Pool Operator (CPO). This regulatory compliance underscores the commitment of both firms to operating within the legal framework and ensuring the security and legitimacy of their services.
McCauley reflected on the unique regulatory landscape in the U.S., noting the dual oversight at the state and federal levels. He described this setup as a reflection of the decentralization ethos prevalent in the crypto space, highlighting the beauty of having diverse approaches to addressing regulatory challenges.
