The Web3 gaming ecosystem Pixelverse has announced the addition of a new character named MEW, which is based on a Solana-based meme coin, to its roster of real-time game characters. This move is expected to attract a fresh audience within the Telegram ecosystem, where Pixelverse games are currently operating.
MEW will be the first Solana-based meme coin character to be featured on Pixelverse, expanding the diversity of characters in the game. Kori Leon, the chief operating officer of PixelVerse, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing that Pixelverse is not only focused on creating games but also building a retail-friendly brand that engages audiences and introduces them to various product lines. The collaboration with MEW is part of Pixelverse’s strategy to integrate different intellectual properties into their Pixel Universe.
MEW, a character and token inspired by cats, emerged during the Solana meme coin craze in March. At its peak, MEW reached a market capitalization of nearly $700 million in early April, according to CoinGecko data. Players participating in Pixelverse can earn token rewards by achieving victories with their in-game robots or characters. The game boasts an estimated 35 million active players and features a range of distinctive characters, including the doge character from the popular dogecoin (DOGE) meme coin.
